Day 1 – Sept. 7, 2019
Depart Canada. Overnight flight to Rome, Italy.
Day 2 – Sept. 8, 2019
Arrive in Rome. Bonjourno! Welcome to Italy. Meet your guide, Spartaco at the Rome (FCO airport). Please arrive before 12:00 noon for this transfer. Our drive to Soriano is approx. 1 hour. A spectacular stop will be made by the Lake of Vico enroute for lunch. Upon arrival in Soriano we will assemble our bikes and get settled in before a light ride of the town to orient ourselves. We will stop at a local café/bar for a special welcome drink, ‘Aperitif’ (the famous Italian Aperol Spritz) and discuss the upcoming week. Dinner this evening is prepared by Spartaco’s sister who runs a small guest house, where some of you will be staying. Be prepared to be amazed by the culinary talents from “Maria Grazia’s” private restaurant. Meals: (L, D)
Day 3 – Sept. 9, 2019 (50KM)
Vitorchiano – Corviano - Bomarzo. After our hearty Italian breakfast, we will pack up for a full day of riding and touring. Packed lunches will be provided to us by Maria Grazia. Today we ride through the impressive medieval city Vitorchiano before visiting the famous sculpture park of Monte Casoli (Monster park) Entrance included. Enjoy some rest time or explore Soriano on your own before dinner at the Trattoria da Santino this evening. This restaurant is most famous for their steak Florentina. Meals: (B, L, D)
Day 4 – Sept. 10, 2019 (45KM)
Bagniai – Viterbo – Calvario – Pineta – Ciliano. This morning is a special ride as we take in a visit to Villa Lante (Bagnaia) one of the most beautiful Renaissance gardens in Italy. (Entrance included). We will enjoy our packed lunch in the beautiful Cimini Pinewood, after which we will ride on to Medieval district of Viterbo for some artisan gelato – some say the best in the world! Dinner will be included this evening in Soriano at a fabulous restaurant. The interior of the restaurant was designed by your tour guide, Spartaco!

Day 5 – Sept. 11, 2019 (REST DAY)
Orvieto – Madonna delle Macchie (Winery & Olive Mill). Today is our rest day to explore some more of the Italian countryside and lanscapes making our way to city of Orvieto, made famous for it’s Gothic cathedral, medieval streets, and pigeon caves! Explore on your own (and have more gelatto) before we visit Madonna delle Macchie. The small family owned winery has been producing olive oils and wines for generations. Enjoy a tour of the vineyards and some tapas before heading back to Soriano for the evening. Dinner this evening is in the Soriano fageta (forest) with spectacular views of the region. Day 6 – Sept. 12, 2019 (40KM)
Orbetello – Monte Argentario – Tuscan Coast – board Sailing ship. An early morning start today brings us to Orbetello. We ride the coastal trails of Monte Argentario, admiring the views of the sea and the Tuscan coast. Mid-day we meet Max and board his sailing ship for an afternoon and night at sea. We will be staying on the boat! Dinner is onboard. Meals: (B, L, D)
Day 7 – Sept. 13, 2019 (REST DAY)
At Sea – Tuscan Coast - This morning we enjoy a leisurely breakfast on the boat. We sail this morning around the Tuscan coast and listen to some tales from Captain Max. As this is a sailing boat and not a luxury yacht, some helping hands will be required if the Skipper needs some assistance! After lunch onboard the ship we disembark and make our way back to Soriano.
Dinner will be in a local restaurant in Soriano.

Day 8 – Sept. 14, 2019 (45KM)
Waterfalls and Hot Springs - Today is our last riding day – we are in for a special treat as we join the Tuscia Bike club on one of their organized rides. Pack your bathing suit as their trails start and end at natural thermal pools called, “Il Bagnaccio”. Lunch will be enjoyed at the hot pools and some extra time given to explore the rest of the hot pools. Later this afternoon we pack up before enjoying a special last dinner together in the ‘Dying City’. Enjoy the rich history of the small city built upon tufa rock only accessed by a bridge and gates, made famous by the traveler Rick Steeves, while enjoying an extra special last evening together.
